"Logistically it's wonderful to have time in my life for some more life tasks, recharge, etc. and know that she has safe, positive, loving care and not feel guilty or more broke with money and stressed with child care as before. It's wonderful to be able to provide her a more peaceful, organized home front and better balanced, rested, more patient, happier mom. Emotionally it is very helpful/vital to know I/we have this "village"/community support/grace/blessing/floatation device especially during some of the more exasperating, tumultuous storms of the recovery process. Thank you for helping us raise a bright, happy, yet quite well adjusted little girl despite our yet-improving home front; thank you for helping us avert/prevent many future daughter-life/parenting challenges/griefs with this excellent early childhood support. Our only request/desire would be that all families in need could receive Childhaven or other quality child care."

Advice and inspiration

At Childhaven, we are inspired every day by the children who come through our doors. As they learn to trust again, as they heal, as their fears subside and their laughter returns, they teach us lessons about resilience and hope. We also are inspired by our dedicated staff members, so knowledgeable and caring, who share their knowledge and experience with families and caregivers so that they can raise strong and happy children. And, we’re inspired by our donors and volunteers, without whom we simply could not do the work we do. Here are a few stories of advice that we are proud to share.

Everyone has a role in preventing child abuse and neglect

“Get involved, learn about the issue and reach out to families that need help,” says Childhaven President Debra Ronnholm. “What we do today can help a child for a lifetime.” Learn more about how you can help.

Managing anger
