Childhaven understands that privacy is important to you. In order to protect your personal information, Childhaven operates this Web Site (“Site”) according to the following principles.

Principle 1: No Need to Disclose Personal Information

You may access, browse and use this Site without disclosing any information that personally identifies you (“Personal Information”) to Childhaven. You will, however, be asked to provide Personal Information in the process of making online donations to Childhaven or in the process of registering for upcoming events. You may also voluntarily provide your e-mail address to be added to our e-mail list.

Principle 2: Use of Personal Information

If you submit your e-mail address to info@childhaven.org, Childhaven may send e-mail announcements to you. E-mail addresses submitted in this manner will be stored in a Childhaven database. Donations to Childhaven are made via a Web page hosted by PayPal. PayPal is a separate company, so please review PayPal’s privacy policy which governs how it uses information collected at the PayPal site. If you choose to make a donation via the PayPal-hosted Web page you will be required to submit the following Personal Information: name, address, and credit card number. You may also provide, but are not required to provide, the following Personal Information: organizational affiliation, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address. Information collected during donation is stored on a RealImpact server. Childhaven accesses this server and retrieves information collected during donation, which it then adds to a Childhaven-owned database of donors. You may request that Childhaven update or make changes to your information stored in this database by contacting the Childhaven development office at (206) 624-6477. If you wish to make a donation to Childhaven, but do not want to provide Personal Information, please contact the Childhaven development office at 206.624.6477.

Principle 3: Consent to Communication

By submitting your contact information (e-mail and/or street address) to info@childhaven.org, or while making a donation or registering for an event, you give your consent to permit Childhaven to send you information about Childhaven events and programs by e-mail and/or by US postal service. If you do not wish to receive such information from Childhaven via e-mail, do not submit your e-mail address to info@childhaven.org, or while making a donation or registering for an event. You may discontinue the e-mail delivery of such information by sending an e-mail with “unsubscribe” in the subject line to info@childhaven.org. You may discontinue the US postal delivery of such information by sending an e-mail requesting such to info@childhaven.org or by submitting such a request in writing at Childhaven, 316 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122.

Principle 4: Childhaven’s Right to Share Information

Except as follows, Childhaven will not share your Personal Information with third parties. Childhaven may store, use and disclose Personal Information as allowed or required by applicable law. This means that Childhaven may make disclosures when advisable, when necessary to conform to legal and regulatory requirements or as necessary, in Childhaven’s sole discretion, to protect the rights, safety and property of Childhaven, users of the Site and the public.

Principle 5: Security

The Web page via which donations are made and Personal Information collected makes use of SSL3 and Strong 128/168-bit encryption to ensure your security. Childhaven will use commercially reasonable efforts to safeguard any Personal Information you submit via the Site, or to provide alternative methods (such as fax, e-mail or postal mail) for you to submit such information.

Principle 6: Contacting Childhaven

If at any  time you believe that Childhaven has not adhered to these principles, please contact us via telephone at 206.624.6477, via e-mail at chaven1@childhaven.org, or via fax at 206.382.3303, and Childhaven will use good faith efforts to promptly identify and correct any deviations from the Principles described in this Privacy Policy.
