Childhaven Receives Grant From Cambia Health Foundation

The Cambia Health Foundation has granted $50,000 to Childhaven for the project CenteringParenting. The funding will enable Childhaven to create a model for well-child care that brings together parents of same-age infants with health care providers.

Through CenteringParenting, Childhaven will support families and health care providers in creating a partnership of experiential learning, support and fun. Each Centering visit will begin with individual well-child health assessments, immunizations and developmental screenings.  The CenteringParenting model is strengths-based, culturally adaptable, grounded in building social support and social connectedness. It exemplifies a trauma-informed approach that recognizes and responds to the impact of complex trauma and toxic stress on individuals and families.

Childhaven Receives Grant From Cigna Foundation

Cigna Foundation Grant to Childhaven Promotes Integration of Primary and Behavioral Health Care for Children Ages Zero to Five

The Cigna Foundation has granted $50,000 to Childhaven to promote the integration of primary and behavioral health care for children ages zero to five. The funding will enable Childhaven to implement a screening tool with Bright Steps and Swedish Pediatrics to identify and refer young children who may need mental and behavioral health care due to trauma and other factors. The Cigna Foundation grant also supports a “family navigator” who works with families and their pediatricians to assess progress and determine next steps.

Childhaven CEO Jon Botten, Program Director Megan Beers and Director of Philanthropy Kristi Nelson meet with Ryan Kocher, President of Cigna’s Pacific Northwest market and Dr. John Sobeck, Medical Director of Cigna’s Pacific Northwest market to discuss the $50,000 grant from the Cigna Foundation to Childhaven.
