Childhaven is excited to receive a brand new handcrafted play structure at its Eli Creekmore Memorial Branch, courtesy of GMC. The structure was built over nine days by a talented team of builders from MoCa Handcrafted, and will benefit the children of Childhaven for years to come.
The structure was built using locally-sourced materials and is already a well-loved part of the Eli Creekmore Memorial Branch playground. The ship includes slides, swings, a sandbox, a toddler-sized climbing wall, and many more special touches to make outside time fun and enriching for children.
“The amount of imagination, work and thought that went into it is just incredible. We’re giving what we think is a wonderful, quality piece to Childhaven both in terms of the structure itself and in terms of the experience the kids will have on it,” said Kristen Rubi of GMC Communications.
Bethany Larsen, Chief Program Officer of Childhaven, was on-hand to officially receive the gift from GMC and meet the team behind the project.
“This beautiful play structure, this beautiful boat, is really tailored to the kids and the kinds of things they’re going to do when they play. Their imaginations are going to explode with the idea of being on a ship that has an octopus coming to get them! This generous gift to Childhaven and the kids here will really help brain and motor skill development. It’s such a meaningful addition to Creekmore.”
Childhaven is grateful to be a part of the GMC Craftsmen for a Cause program. Thank you, GMC, the General Motors family, and MoCa Handcrafted.
