Childhaven is proud to welcome Carl Lovsted III as the new chair of the Board of Trustees. Lovsted, who has served on the Board since 2013, begins his tenure May 24, 2016.
Lovsted is an Executive Vice President at Hub Northwest, serving on the global insurance brokerage’s regional leadership team and overseeing operations in Seattle and Chehalis. He previously served as CEO of his own long-standing local brokerage firm, Lovsted-Worthington, before the company joined with Hub in 2015.
“I am excited to serve as the board chair at a time when we are financially strong and ambitious in our goals,” said Lovsted. “I’m dedicated to seeing Childhaven serve more children and families, and deepen our impact in the Seattle community and beyond.”
In addition to his leadership experience, Lovsted brings with him a legacy of family service to Childhaven. His late mother Lou Lovsted was an ardent supporter of the organization, serving on the Board in the 1980s. It was during her tenure as president in 1985 that the agency changed its name from Seattle Day Nursery to Childhaven and officially adopted the mission to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect.
Lovsted is taking over for Jake Domer, who served as Board Chair from 2014-2016, and has been a board member since 2010. Domer will remain on the board through the next fiscal year.
“Jake has been a passionate advocate for Childhaven for so many years, and from our strategic plan to our recent rebranding, he has always lead us with clarity and commitment,” said Maria Chavez Wilcox, Childhaven President and CEO. “His time as board chair has forever changed our organization.”
