Events and Corporate Relations Manager

The Events and Corporate Relations Manager will play a vital role in Childhaven’s development efforts. This position is responsible for leading the design and execution of Childhaven’s signature events and overseeing the outstanding execution of a comprehensive corporate giving program.

Management / Leadership

  • In strong partnership with the CDO and the Director of Philanthropy, provide inspired, can-do leadership to the development team
  • In partnership with the CDO and Director of Philanthropy, maintain a team culture of positivity, excellence, high productivity, accountability, creativity and collaboration
  • Supervise and mentor an event intern

Corporate Giving / Fundraising

  • Develop and implement a strategic, year-round Corporate Partnership Program focused on dramatically increasing philanthropic support from the corporate community, as well as the number of corporate supporters
  • Mobilize board members to help identify, solicit and steward existing and new corporate partners
  • Serve as primary relationship manager, solicitor and steward for major ($5,000+) corporate partners
  • In collaboration with the Grants Manager, ensure all corporate giving and sponsorship goals are met or exceeded
  • Participate in regular major donor strategy meetings
  • In collaboration with the Stewardship Manager, ensure stewardship is designed to inspire, delight and acknowledge all segments of Childhaven’s corporate donors
  • Regularly update Raiser’s Edge with contact reports, actions, updated contact information, etc.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the CEO, Board and CDO

 Event Planning & Production

  • Create and implement comprehensive event strategy for Childhaven’s signature events, ensuring optimal ROI, audience development, outstanding guest experience, new donor acquisition, and post-event strategy
  • Plan a calendar of inspiring, mission-centered, and high-performing events that will meet agency fundraising needs, attract new donors, and inspire current donors to engage further; includes house parties, stewardship events, and Childhaven’s two signature events
  • Plan, organize, and oversee Celebration Luncheon (spring) and Childhaven Auction (autumn)
  • Serve as event lead, overseeing all logistics and communications for execution (catering, décor, collateral, budget, A/V, show flow, seating, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Director of Communication, contracted graphic designer, and print house on all event collateral (design and print oversight)
  • Negotiate all vendor contracts; manage vendor relationships
  • Manage auction procurement; coordinate data input and auction packaging
  • In partnership with Board of Trustees and Development team, secure event sponsorships
  • Engage and motivate the Board of Trustees, event Chairs, table captains, and committee members leading up to event; steward them following event
  • Recruit, retain, and communicate with luncheon and auction table captains
  • Lead event committee meetings, follow-up on assignments, and help in recruiting committee members
  • Manage event budgets to ensure all invoices are paid and accurately track expenses and revenue
  • Serve as primary pre/post-event contact and onsite representative for venture events such as DCI gold tournament (August) and Top Pot 5K (April)
  • Execute post-event wrap up processes and procedures, including the timely stewardship of event donors and the import of all event-related data into Raiser’s Edge
  • Ensure all event goals are met or exceeded (revenue, new donors, sponsorship, etc.); lead the evaluation of events each year to drive new event changes and strategy
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proven track record of growing philanthropic revenue
  • Experience soliciting donations and sponsorship from the corporate/business community
  • Highly-organized and detail oriented; exceptional written and verbal communications
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a broad base of constituents including agency staff of all levels, Board of Trustees, and donors; experience working with boards and volunteer committees
  • Experience working effectively with high-level volunteers and managing committees


  • Bachelor’s degree and experience in Development or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in event management
  • Fundraising event experience preferred
  • Experience creating and selling event sponsorship opportunities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge and Greater Giving a plus
  • Valid Washington Driver License and a safe driving record with access to an insured vehicle
  • Must pass internal Childhaven background check and drug testing requirement
