Margaret “Maggie” Kennedy Gogerty, a beloved free-spirit who greatly influenced the therapeutic treatment program at Childhaven, passed away January 28, 2016 after a long struggle with brain disease. She was 83.
Maggie joined the staff at Childhaven in the early 1980s as a family therapist and spent 20 years caring for abused and neglected children and their families. She later married Pat Gogerty, the founder of Childhaven.
Friends and colleagues of Maggie described her as direct, insightful, and vivacious.
“Maggie was hugely influential in shaping our therapeutic program,” said Beth Larsen, Childhaven Chief Program Officer. “I’ve never met anyone with her energy or ability to cut to the heart of the matter. She will be deeply missed.”
