ABOUT THE YOUTH BOARD

The Youth Board strives to further the mission of Childhaven by fundraising, volunteering and advocating for children and families across the Seattle area.

BENEFITS & SKILLS GAINED

The Youth Board is an opportunity for high school students to use their voices to create meaningful change in their communities. Members will have the opportunity to:

  • Fulfill leadership roles and develop advanced teamwork skills.
  • Develop experience in event planning and execution.
  • Learn about philanthropic fundraising and non-profit organizational structures.
  • Understand early childhood development science & implementation.
  • Utilize professional growth resources.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY

  • Attend a tour of Childhaven.
  • Attend and actively participate in Youth Board meetings.
    • Must attend required meetings; 9/22, 4/26, 5/2, 5/3
    • Members are only allowed to miss two non-required meetings.
  • Complete assigned tasks and assist in execution of fundraising event.
  • Attend outreach opportunities and participate in Childhaven events.

Members are only allowed to miss two non-required meetings. Meetings can be made up by volunteering for a Childhaven fundraising event or project. All required meetings must be attended. Members that miss two or more meetings and do not schedule make-up volunteering or that miss a required meeting will be asked to step-down from the board.

  • Answer all questions on the Skills & Interests
    • Tell us about yourself!
    • Why do you want to volunteer with Childhaven?
    • What previous volunteer or community involvement experience, if any, do you have?
  • Online volunteer application must be submitted by July 1, 2019.
  1. Participate in a virtual interview.
  • After all applications are received, a Childhaven representative will contact you to schedule a virtual interview.
  1. Provide two professional references.
  • After the virtual interview, applicants will be asked to provide two professional references.
