Please join us in welcoming Jon Botten as Childhaven’s new CEO. For the past four months, Jon has served as the Interim CEO, taking the reins from Maria Chavez Wilcox. Maria led Childhaven for five years before departing to become the CEO of our local YWCA.
Following the announcement, Jon said: “I feel extraordinarily grateful and excited to officially be joining the Childhaven family. I look forward to working with the staff, board, community, and partners to help make Childhaven one of the largest, most comprehensive, and most effective trauma prevention and early intervention treatment programs in the nation.”
As CEO, Jon will be our “river guide” as he likes to put it, overseeing all aspects of operations at Childhaven and providing a bold vision with new strategies as we continue our work healing children and families to stop the cycle of abuse and neglect.
“Jon has served us tirelessly and effectively for the past four months while we conducted a formal search process that validated Jon as the best candidate” says search committee chair and board member Bareq Peshtaz. “Throughout this process and his tenure as our interim, he has shown us that he not only has a strong understanding of our mission and our values as organization, but that he has the leadership style and vision to lead us during this next, most critical chapter of our journey.”
Prior to joining Childhaven, Botten served for more than 17 years as the CEO of Children’s Therapy Center (CTC) in Kent, WA. Under his leadership, the organization transformed from a small therapy clinic to the largest and most comprehensive pediatric therapy and early intervention program in Washington – and one of the largest in the nation. CTC thrived through its steadfast commitment to constant improvement in pursuit of excellence. We know he will be bringing this same commitment to excellence to Childhaven.
On behalf of our board, staff, and the kids and families we serve, welcome to the team, Jon, and congratulations!
